Car and Railway Trolley Collide in Pärnu County

Today (3 February 2010) a traffic accident involving a passenger car and railway inspection trolley occurred in Urge, Pärnu County. Luckily, nobody was injured.

The accident took place at 1.18 PM at a non-regulated level crossing of Urge-Kuiaru road. The Mitsubishi passenger car driven by Olev (57) moving towards Urge drove in front of a railway trolley driven by Johannes of the same age coming from Pärnu’s direction, told the PR Officer of Western Police Prefecture.

In course of the accident were damaged the front part and left side of the car, no persons were injured.

Imre Veber, Chief of the Patrol Service of Pärnu County Police Department, explained that there could have been disturbing circumstances like snow on the road or direct low sunlight but the railway level crossing was equipped with a clearly visible traffic sign “Stop and make way”.

Veber wants to remind everybody that all of us should be extremely careful while crossing railway lines.
