Man hit by Train in Türi Dies

Today (6 May 2010), a man was hit by a train in Türi and died. The deceased person is currently being identified.

The accident happened nearby the railway bridge across the Pärnu River, in the proximity of Türi town around 5. 30 PM. The driver of the Viljandi-Tallinn passenger train driving towards Tallinn noticed a person on railway tracks too late and could not prevent the accident, told the PR Officer of the Western Police Prefecture to Delfi.

The investigation has to determine for which reasons the person was trespassing on railway. According to the police, a criminal investigation will be initiated.

The information hotline of Edelaraudtee told Delfi that according to the preliminary information the train will be late for Tallinn one hour and 35 minutes.
