Drunk Russian Lorry Driver Drives in Front of Train

Yesterday (27 October 2010) after midnight took place an accident at Vana-Narva road level crossing equipped with traffic lights. A Scania lorry with Russian licence plates driven by Vitali did not stop in front of red lights, drove to the tracks and was hit by a freight train.

“No one was injured in course of the accident,” said to Delfi Martin Luige, PR Officer of Northern Police Prefecture.

The police found alcohol in blood of 54-year old Valeri and started against him misdemeanour proceedings. The driver was taken to the police station to become sober.

Harju County Court imprisoned Vitali for 10 days and took away his driver’s license for five months as an additional punishment.
