OLE Attends Paide Town Safety Day

On August 22 Paide town square hosted a safety day organised by the Paide Commando of Western Estonian Rescue Centre. The event attracted a large number of town residents and people who are ready to contribute to increasing people’s awareness about safety related matters on a daily basis.

OLE was happy to see that in addition to the police and rescue officers involved in regular preventive work the event was attended by defence forces’ personnel and specialists from Aide driving School. Those participating in the safety day could learn how to extinguish fires, test themselves how important it is to fasten seatbelts and try many other interesting things. In the last part of the safety day the audience could see dogs rescuing drowning people.

Although there is no railway near Paide the OLE box was still very popular throughout the day. The visitors studied OLE’s training materials and learned new things about railway safety. There were also some people who wanted to share their experience concerning dangerous situations on railways where they or their close ones had taken part.

The head of the organising committee for the safety day was Kairet Kõljalg whose contribution to promoting railway safety was recognised by OLE with the “Golden Level Crossing Gates 2010” award.
